2013 was an amazing year. I started my wonderful little corner of the internet (a.k.a my blog – New Yorker Meets London) after an epiphany to share more of my world with family, friends and fellow readers like you.
Taking the leap. It was a year of huge change for me. With the help of friends and family, I successfully made the leap from a financial diva to a digital media bod and I absolutely loved every single moment with no regrets. It wasn’t easy, but with enough dedication and hard work, anything is achievable.
Proudly British. I became a permanent resident of the UK after living here for 5 years. I somehow navigated the UK immigration system all on my own from switching visas to applying for citizenship. Saying goodbye to those painful weekends on Saturday nights flipping through and filling in thick application forms, I’m finally free.
Family time rocks! For the first time in 3 years, I spent 1 whole week with my brother and parents in one city. This was not an easy thing to accomplish with all of us deciding to take residence in different parts of the world. It was bliss. Besides, a reality check hit me hard with a website called SeeYourFolks. According to its calculation, I will see my parents only 44 times before you know what. I vowed to see them more than that despite the distance.
Start things and watch it grow. I started a Meetup group called Ladies in Digital as part of the W Kollective. A collective for women working in digital, tech, and start-ups in the current digital economy. The group grew in numbers to 102 members in just under 2 months and is going strong. I have really enjoyed the friendships I have made through this group and will continue to bring exciting events in 2014.
I would like to dedicate this last post of the year to celebrate what all of us have achieved in 2013.
What is your big bucket list for 2014? Share with me below and I look forward to reading all about it. 🙂
Happy New Year! May 2014 be even more awesome than 2013!
